Jwompa

Jwompa is a music streaming service that targets African music and music lovers in the diaspora. It seeks to connect people worldwide with music from all 54 African countries.

ABOUT

I was tasked with creating a new look for Jwompa, one that offers users a complete and unfiltered version of Africa, and it's music and position Jwompa as a modern and true gateway to African Music. This includes rebranding,playlist cover designs, motion graphics and UI/UX refresh.

For the User Interface, I opted for a goal oriented design approach by asking ourselves the following questions.

1)  Who is our biggest competitors?
2)  Who are our primary audience?
3) What do our users need the most in the product?

Competitor Analysis

I examined various potential competing companies, recognizing that while some may not be direct competitors, however, they can offer valuable insights for assessment.

Jwompa has the chance to excel by concentrating on expertly curated African content.While most features among competitors were quite similar, the key distinctions we observed were:
- Limited emphasis on African Music
- A limited collection of curated African playlists
- Absence of guides for novices

User Flow

Once the onboarding process is finished, the main user launches the app and encounters the home screen. Here, they can pick a playlist, leading them to the playlist screen. Within this screen, they have the choice to select a particular track or utilize the shuffle button to navigate through the playlist randomly. This action transitions them to the now playing screen.

Jwompa Version 2.0

The release of Jwompa 1.0 provided valuable insights from users. It became evident that:

1) Users favored an experience that didn't overwhelm them with an abundance of content choices.

2) Users expressed a desire for content that felt more current and timely.

Consequently, we had to redesign the app, placing emphasis on content programming and implementing a more straightforward discovery mechanism.
